Search bar without search engines

Post by HEKPOMAH » Sat Mar 11, 2017 8:05 pm

After upgrading to 52.0 (64-bit AMD version) search bar became broken.
Search engines are unavailable.

Search preferences shows no engines.

"Add another search engines" link is not working too.
Not working after upgrading to 52.0. Not working in safe mode. Not working after full re-install. Not working after full re-install with "clean installation".
Firefox 52.0 64-bit works OK.

Hi HEKPOMAH

Does it happen in safe-mode or on a clean test profile

It happens in safe-mode, but in clean test profile search bar is OK.

In the clean-test profile search shows engines and works OK.

Hi HEKPOMAH

On the clean test profile did it happen with your language pack enabled, in Cyberfox well Firefox large change to how search plugins were packaged
with the browser this change may not bode well with some older profiles or could be language pack related so if the issue does not occur on a
clean test profile with you language selected its recommended to build a new profile.

You can follow this FAQ article to manually create a new profile using old profile data preventing lost of data [Manually create a new profile]

This is only a problem of Ukrainian localization (Intel version x86 and Beta x86). Please, fix it

Hi acep

Thank you, that helped us narrow it down and produce the the issue. The issue was caused by a misplaced double quotation in the language list.json

A update is going to be prepared but will take a few days to propagate with other pending changes so to resolve the issue now see below.

For Cyberfox desktop download and replace the following file in your Cyberfox installation.
Default path is: C:\Program Files\Cyberfox\browser\features to navigate and replace "langpack-uk@8pecxstudios.com.xpi"

For Cyberfox Portable download and replace the following file in your Cyberfox installation.
Default path is: CyberfoxPortable\App\Cyberfox\browser\features navigate to and replace "langpack-uk@8pecxstudios.com.xpi"
langpack-uk@8pecxstudios.com.xpi
